Lots of parties

Jon and Julianna had their birthday parties in October, as did Toni. Jul turned 19 and Jon turned 21. As everyone said to him, his is now able to drink everywhere in the world. If only he did drink, eh!
As is our tradition now, Jon and I carved pumkins. Here are the results for this year. Mine is on the left; Jon's is on the right. The unfortunate thing...they rotted tgrough before halloween, so we didn't even have them for our 2nd annual party.
We had about 28 people at this years party. Our little house was full. And there were lots of great costumes. But here is a pic of my parents' dog, Amber. She really didn't mind being dressed up as...well...who knows what.
And this past Saturday, the weather called for a chance of flurries. We ended up with 6 inches by our house. A few trees hung over, and we'll have to cut them, but other than that, we thought is was great. Jon and I had my Ned and Nancy (counsin and hubby) for supper, and after they left Jon and I played in the snow. We made a snow man and threw snowballs. Great fun. I really hope we get lots of snow this year.
And last night, my mom had us and my in-laws over for supper. Since they had no power (due to the snow fall) it was at our house. So we didn't really go over anywhere, but is was a nice time.

I'm back

As not to bore everyone, I will jot-note our summer and September. I'll post pics another day when I am on my own computer.
- Jon and I had a great trip to Calgary where we visited Denis, Laura and Aiden. We had fun just hanging out, hiking, visiting the mountains and eating
- I had a great time gardening, making jam and pickling. Yeah, I'm a real country girl now.
- Jon and I got to be parents to a kid this summer. Little Jon. Here was great fun to have around. For my mother's dog on the other hand....well, I could have...well, we'll just leave it at that. Amber does not like my cat very much.
- Alicia is trying to get me to lie, but I won't. She says it is a game, but a lie is a lie. She wants me to trick my audience by playing two truths and a lie, but I said no, Alicia. She said I totally should do it. I shall not give in.
- It is three am Friday nigth/Saturday morning, and we are having a girls' night. We thought I should finally do a blog entry and this is the result.
- School has been going good. I am at a local high school teaching Immersion courses and IB French.
- Jon's job is going great. He will soon be taking his first educational leave. And there have been plenty of extra jobs to get done. I'll post pics of all the work he has done at our house over the summer. It is really coming together.

Not much else is new, so I stop until I can post some pics of our summer. And it won't be three months until I get it done.

It's a small world after all

The past two weeks have been very interesting and exciting, so allow me to enumerate the series of events.

The weekend of June 1st, due to unfortunate circumstances, Laura was down in Nova Scotia. This surprise visit allowed us to see her and Aiden, and what a sweet boy he is. He is starting to look around lots and be curious; can't wait to see him smile. Maybe in two more weeks when Jon and I are in Calgary. Well, while Laura was down, herself, my mom and me went to Waves Seafood and Grill for some fish and chips. While eating, a young professional couple walked by and ohh-ed and ahh-ed over Aiden. She was clearly expecting herself and seeing Aiden was a glimpse into their soon-to-be-life.

This same weekend, I had three interviews for permanent teaching jobs. All of them went well; it was then just the waiting game to see if I got one of them. One interview I had was at Park View Education Center for an immersion position. I really wanted this one, so there was tons of prays from everyone. Last weekend went slowly by until Friday when I heard from Park View saying I was the successful candidate. Yeah!!! So I know am a permenant teacher and well...I am very happy.

This past weekend we had serveral fun parties. Tom, Paula, and Julianna came for supper Friday. Toni spent the weekend at our house while my mom was away. Saturday we went to a Bryden birthday party for Steve, Amy and Amanda. Then on Sunday I got to go to a baby shower for one of Paula's cousin's wife.

When I arrived, I told Paula about the couple at Waves and how cute they were, and low and behold, guess who the expecting mother was: the lady from Waves. What a small world! Also, the principal that hired me, his wife was there. What a small world!

So a great two and half weeks. Laura, it was really fun to see you, your sister and the babies. Jon and I can't wait to see you and Denis in only two weeks!!! about ;-)

Finally...an up-date

Well, I am finally doing an up-date. It has been a long time...but we have been super busy. Also, are internet is slow, so I use that as an excuse to not take care of internet business. But I can go no longer...so here are pics of the past month and half.

This is a local deer. We also have a porcupine, and his name is Albert, but there is no picture of him yet.
My parents anniversary was back in April, and we had them over for a four course meal. That wsa the table setting. We have since gotten a new dining room table; the pic is below.

My dad had his birthday the day after their anniversary. Happy b-day.The Romkeys who came during a snow storm for supper at our house. So good to see them!
We had a Davidson youth bowling night. Here is a great shot of Felisha.

Then, Grampie George had a b-day too. Him with his grandchildren.

Felisha and I, the same party, wanting to have a in'law pic. Plus, I had just gotten my hair cut, and straightened for the day.

Here is the new hair cut curly. And there is Ginger.

This is the new dining room table. More of a nook, but we love it. Yeah for a sale at Zellers!
Here is Jon and his construction buddy just after the finished their recent job for a teacher I work with.
Here is the deck. Huge!!!

This is Geneviève. I worked with her at school. She was a french monitrice, and we became close friends. She will be moving back to Quebec in an other week. I miss you, Geneviève. A bientot.

Yesterday, we celebrated Paula and Felisha's b-day. Here is a Davidson family pic. I love it. And happy b-day you two.
So what has been keeping us so busy is our landscaping and other people's landscaping. This is a pic of the tree we bought for our front garden.
There is the completed garden, finished yesterday by your truly. And Jon finished spreading the gravel today.
Here is our new back deck and walk way to the remise (shed). The rest will be finished during year three. Next year is the big front deck.
And here is the rest of the little back deck. Great job Jonny!
Well, hopefully I will be able to up-date more frequently, but I am in the process of looking for a job for next year. Interviews will hopefully start this week, Lord willing.

Road Trip!!!

This weekend was quite an adventure! Karen called Tuesday night and said "I think I am going to buy a ticket and come to Halifax for the weekend. Want to go see Dee?" And she was serious and so we did! Karen flew in Friday night, and early Saturday morning I picked her and Alicia up in Halifax and then Meredith just past the airport. On ward we were to surprise Dee.

The laughter began with Alicia, Karen, and myself seeing this random moose in the back of a truck. So random, but then again...it is Nova Scotia.

We really wanted us arriving to be a surprise, which was hard as it is a small town and we weren't sure if she would spot us quickly or not. When we arrived we called and called in hopes to be talking to her on the phone as we rang the door bell, but she wasn't in. Here is us sneaking around her house.

After the many hugs and touching the belly, we headed for a walk to see the sights of McAdam. Here is the gang.

After numerous photos around town we head back to eat and talk. We looked at pics and remembered old times, while creating new ones with each other and our new friend Meranda. She is so nice. What a blessing she is to Dee. As the night progressed, things turned silly. The ballons which were meant to decorate for the baby shower part turned in to fake prego bellies. What a blast. You should see the individual pics. So funny and some look pretty realistic! Here we are. Can you find the real prego in the pic?

After church, we had lunch a the best local restaurant, and it was great. Good food for a low price. Then one last photo session before hitting the road.

I love this pic.

It was an incredible weekend, and I am so glad I was able to make it. Thanks Josh, Fe and Jule for letting me cancel on our outing! There are so many other memories but it is hard to write everythin on this one blog entry. I have added one last pic of Ginger after she got spaded. She looks for cute with her cone, but the eyes are a little freaky.

Lastly, check out Dee's blog to see more pics and get a different point of view.
